“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”  – John Dewey

In a society driven by technology, it is imperative that education changes to meet the needs of today’s students.  Our students need to be exposed to the myriad of technology that exists in our world.  As a 15-year veteran educator, I strive to incorporate technological tools that compliment, rather than replace, both the teaching and learning processes.

The last few years have seen an increasing number of mobile learning devices – such as Apple’s iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch and an assortment of Android-based tablets – appearing in classrooms around the world.  It’s not enough for schools to simply purchase these devices and place them in the hands of teachers.  That process must be accompanied by professional learning opportunities and identification of and access to resources such as this website.

Over half a million ‘apps’ are currently available.  Not all meant for use in an education environment were actually developed by educators.  Therefore, it’s imperative that experienced and knowledgeable educators – such as myself – first review, then recommend apps before they are installed on mobile learning devices in our classrooms.  I am proud to say that I have personally and extensively explored every app featured on this site.

My passion for effective and appropriate educational technology use fuels this site.  Please return to it often and share it with your friends and colleagues.  Additional apps will be added on a regular basis.  It’s also a great resource for parents and other caregivers who use mobile learning devices with their own children.

Use the toolbox on the right side of this website to search for apps by price, grade level, subject, and platform.  You can visit the iTunes preview page for each app by clicking its picture.
